When talking to a senior audience, an in-depth knowledge of the topic is absolutely essential; but getting that information out of your organisation can be a challenge. IT consultancy and service provider CSC realised this when producing a white paper to accompany an event on intellectual property theft for senior decision-makers in the automotive, manufacturing and pharmaceutical industries. So they asked HN for help.

One of CSC’s subject-matter experts had put some good high-level ideas down on paper, but it was clear that we needed a greater depth of understanding to come through in order to engage with the informed and experienced audience. The solution was to conduct an in-depth interview with the SME, to drill down to more specific lessons and insight. By asking challenging questions, as if from a sceptical audience, we drew out the SME’s depth of knowledge. We then had the ammunition we needed to structure and write a paper filled with relevant, actionable insight. The result was not only meaningful and informative to CSC’s audience, but demonstrated CSC’s understanding of the issues and experience in addressing them.”
